A Lady in the Smoke – Review

Lady Elizabeth Fraser and her mother are traveling home after a horrible Season in London when their train wrecks. Terrified and alone, Elizabeth meets Paul who helps her and her mother. Later they work together to save others. He’s not of her class. Not socially acceptable as a match for her but she falls hard.

Paul is a surgeon who works for the railroad. He’s suspicious of many of the accidents that have happend lately and is working with the owner of a newspaper to uncover the corruption he knows is at the heart of these accidents that are costing so many their lives. He doesn’t need someone like Lady Elizabeth in his life to complicate matters. But when does Life every play fair?

Together they uncover a plot so extensive and so intermingled with Lady Elizabeths cloudy family history that it surprises even them. Can they save themselve, and the railroad industry before something unspeakable happens?

This book was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
