I created this promotional piece using Canva.com. It’s a pretty good tool for creating your own promotional pieces. I’m not the most tech savvy person in the world and I think this one looks pretty good. What do you think? Do any of you use this tool? This is from DEATH OF A WOLFMAN and comes from a scene where Lily Gayle is at It’ll Grow Back, the hair salon belonging to her best friend, Dixie. As you can see from the promo, the girls are up to some gossip about the goings on in town.death-of-a-wolfman-snippetcover-pinterest

The Rivals of Versailles – Book Review

Rivalsof Versailles

The Rivals of Versailles by Sally Christie

Publication date April 5, 2016

This book takes the reader on an indepth look at the life and career of Madame de Pompadour who ‘ruled’ by the side of King Louis XV for twenty years. It gives a good accounting of the other women in the King’s life and their place in it, from the viewpoint of Madame.

Being a fan of historical fiction, and history in general, I was familiar with Madame de Pompadour but this gave a nicely detailed story about her life and how she came to be the King’s mistress–  and later his most trusted advisor. I didn’t know previously that a fortune teller had told her that she would be loved by a King. That fortune changed the lifeline of a poor young girl forever and pointed her straight to Versailles.

The book was well written and I truly enjoyed this peek behind the scenes of such an illustrious woman.

Lilac Girls – Book Review

LilacGirls

This novel is beautifully written with characters that come to life on the pages as they creep into your heart.

This story takes place before, during and after World War II and moves between New York, Poland and Germany as it follows the course of the lives of three women who will come together over a series of horrific events.

Caroline Ferriday is a New Yorker whose life is centered around assisting the unfortunate in other countries – mostly France, but by the end of the book she has become aware of a group of women whose lives she intends to change through her fundraising efforts.

Kasia Kuzmerick, a young Polish teenager, is caught up in a Nazi sweep through her town and sent to a prison camp in Germany along with her sister, Mother and teenaged friend.

Herta Oberheuser, a young German doctor, at a Nazi prison camp whosedesire to become a surgeon leads her to an abyss. She is the dark force whose actions bring Caroline and Kasia together in the end.

This book is based on a true story and brought to light an event not many people have heard about. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves moving. amazing stories about lives, loves and relationships.

The History Major – Review

TheHistoryMajor

This was my first read of anything by Michael Phillip Cash. It’s novella length and had me so engrossed that I read it in one sitting.

College freshman Amanda Greene wakes up in her dorm room after a night of partying with the usual results of too much alcohol. But even a hangover can’t explain why everything is just a little off. Her room has changed, her room mate has changed. Even her class schedule has changed.

She’s enrolled in a history class she knows she didn’t take and can’t get anyone to let her drop. And, she’s being pursued by a shadow being that seems to be hellbent on hurting her. Like Amanda, I was wondering what the heck is going on here? I am a fan of paranormal elements and the story dovetails beautifully. Everything is explained and the ending is one I never saw coming.
